DESCRIPTION

Our one day Defensive Rifle course is designed for anyone from the first-time shooter to the weekend shooter or seasoned operator that wants some core fundamental skills building with the use of a Carbine or Rifle. Our professional staff will help you to become comfortable with the core fundamental skills, modern rifle fighting techniques, proper target acquisition, proper body position and shot placement to effectively win an armed encounter. You will take home effective drills and techniques that you can use in your own training regime. If you are a new rifle owner or recreational shooter looking to get into the tactical training world this is a great course to start with without a large monetary commitment. You will leave this course with an understanding of how and why to set a zero on your rifle. You will leave the course with a proper zero on your rifle. It is also a good way for an experienced operator to build and hone their skills. We look forward to seeing you in this fun and informative course. You may use any AR variant, AK variant, sub gun or pistol caliber carbine in this course.

REQUIRED GEAR

  1. A properly functioning carbine or rifle
  2. At least 3 rifle magazines (5 or more are recommended)
  3. 400-600 rounds of rifle ammunition
  4. Magazine pouches for your rifle magazines (belt mounted or on a chest rig/plate carrier)
  5. A quality sling
  6. A properly functioning handgun
  7. Minimum of 3 magazines for your handgun (5 recommended if using single stacked mags)
  8. Magazine pouches for your handgun magazines
  9. Properly fitting holster and sturdy belt (Preferably a rigid or kydex style outside-the-waistband holster. No soft side collapsible holsters; you must be able to reholster using only one hand.)
  10. Minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition for that handgun
  11. Eye protection
  12. Electronic hearing protection
  13. Appropriate range attire: closed-toe shoes, long pants, and crew neck shirt

SUGGESTED GEAR

  1. Sharpie type pen for marking targets
  2. Pen and notepad for taking notes
  3. Hat or other head covering
  4. Gloves
  5. Knee pads and elbow pads
  6. Footwear that you can stand in all day (boots are highly recommended)
  7. Sunscreen or raingear (if outdoors, this course will go on rain or shine)
  8. Refillable water bottle for hydration
  9. Food and/or snacks (we may not have time to leave the range for lunch)
  10. Body armor if you would wear it in the field while deploying a rifle and/or pistol
  11. A quality tourniquet, IFAK, or trauma kit

PROHIBITED ITEMS

Ammunition not allowed: armor piercing or steel core ammo (you will be responsible for paying for any damage to the range or steel targets)

PREREQUESITES

Participants must complete Rifle Proficiency and demonstrate proficiency in safety and technique in order to take this class and gain the maximum training benefits. Exceptions may be granted by the instructor prior to signing up if you have attended other equivalent training or have sufficient experience.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Successful completion of NTAC’s curriculum through Defensive Handgun or Defensive Rifle qualifies you to participate in Shooting Around Barricades, any of our Advanced Courses including: Rifle Manipulations, Home Defense Close Quarters Battle (CQB), Team Tactics, Vehicle Tactics, or any of our Skills Maintenance Courses.

We also strongly encourage our students to expand their knowledge by participating in our Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) training. TECC training will provide you with skills that will help save lives in high-stress, unpredictable situations, and is ideal for firearms and tactical training, church safety, school volunteers or anyone else that wants to be trained and prepared for an emergency.
